ZimCuisine is a black owned food business based in Davis, California serving authentic African soul food with flavors from Southern Africa and beyond. Almost 2 decades ago we moved to the US from Zimbabwe, hence the name (Zim: for Zimbabwe; Cuisine).  There is very little representation of Southern African food in the US. In our wonderful small town, there was an opportunity to bring diversity to the local food scene.  We believe organic, farm fresh and wholesome food stems from Africa. In fact almost everything is organic there, hence you will hardly find anything labeled “organic”…..It is just assumed. The desire is to bring local farm fresh veggies and meat into your homes using a combination of African flavors and fresh organic produce when it is available. The desire for good food stems from ancestors who have passed down concepts of slowly cooked food and recipes from generation to generation. A typical African meal takes 2-3 hours to cook and all meals are made from scratch daily. The meals include meat and vegan options and are mostly gluten free.

Vision

Our dream for a brick and mortar space is to have a vibrant and interactive space that showcases cultures from around the World; highlighting social activism while serving fresh and organic food. We started the business at the hardest time anyone can launch a new business- during a pandemic. We are hopeful that with the support from our Community, our vision will become a reality.
